The Fair Labor Association has created a first-of-a-kind, industry-wide code of conduct and monitoring system.
The objective - fair treatment of apparel workers around the world.

Phillips-Van Heusen is an active, committed member of the Fair Labor Association, to the point of direct and ongoing involvement by our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Emanuel Chirico.

Active participation by PVH is essential given our core values, which define how we operate and govern our relationships with suppliers, contractors and business partners (through the PVH Shared Commitment)

The Fair Labor Association (FLA) is composed of business, pro-labor non-governmental organizations and universities. Initially the Apparel Industry Partnership (AIP) created under the auspices of President Clinton in 1996, the FLA had the following goals:

Create an industry-wide code of conduct applicable to all US companies regardless of the location of their operations. Companies, labor unions and non-governmental organizations negotiated these guidelines which borrow extensively from internationally recognized workers' rights, human rights and acceptable working conditions.

Establish an effective external independent monitoring system applicable to the factories of the participating companies and define internal monitoring requirements for these companies.

Establish communication channels to provide consumers and stakeholders with information on the performance of the participating companies, allowing consumers to make educated purchasing decisions.

Create an organization that would execute the monitoring efforts and work toward the elimination of sweatshops worldwide.
