From the Desk: Adelyn Cheong

Adelyn Cheong is President, PVH China. Read below to get to know her:

Describe your new role in the PVH organization.

To lead our teams in China to continue our journey towards becoming the most admired fashion and lifestyle company.

What are the top three things on your to-do list?

  • Accelerate our recovery out of the impact COVID-19 has had on our businesses

  • Build a strong culture reflecting our core values

  • Know our consumers, our competition and ourselves deeply to strategize our way forward in achieving our power plan

What do you love most about what you do?

That it’s a team sport; I get to learn from really smart people, and together, we make the impossible possible.

What is the biggest business challenge facing the fashion/apparel industry?

Striking the balance between profit and purpose. One is not sustainable nor meaningful without the other.

What makes you optimistic about the future?

Change is the only constant. For 140 years, PVH has proven our ability to navigate change and come out stronger. I believe we have what it takes to drive fashion forward for good.

What is the best advice you've been given throughout your career?

“Stop obsessing over correcting your weaknesses. Focus instead on developing your strengths and make them so powerful that your weaknesses are irrelevant.” – Lex Gemas

What’s the best career advice you’ve given?

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” – Peter Drucker

We are only ever as good as our people, and people create culture!

How would you describe the Power of PVH – and what should we do about it?

Our people, our values and our brands collectively form the Power of PVH, and with great power comes great responsibilities. Using our vast platform to do good while driving shareholder value will continue the legacy we’ve inherited for generations to come.

Which of our values – Individuality, Passion, Partnership, Integrity and Accountability – speaks the most to you, and how do you live that value?

All of them! Living these values in combination is what forms our collective power.

Fun fact most people don't know about you?

That my favorite way to travel and see the world is on a bicycle. This allows me to enjoy the journey as much as the destination, and I get to experience much more because it slows me down, and I leave a much smaller carbon footprint. Win. Win. Win!
