Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli Accept the Award
of Inspiration on Behalf of Calvin Klein Collection
NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 11,
2014 – Calvin Klein,
Inc. has announced that Calvin Klein Collection was honored by amfAR,
The Foundation for AIDS Research, as a company that has made a profound
impact on the state of AIDS research. The prestigious Award of Inspiration was
presented last evening at the Foundation’s 5th annual Inspiration
Gala at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.
Calvin Klein Collection’s Creative Directors, Francisco Costa and Italo
Zucchelli, accepted the amfAR Award of Inspiration on behalf of the brand. Actor and amfAR board member Matt Bomer
and performer Fergie presented this prestigious award to them.
For the evening, Calvin
Klein Collection wardrobed Fergie, Matt Bomer, Alex Lundqvist, Alan Cumming,
Zachary Quinto, and the evening’s host, Josh Duhamel. Fergie wore a
Spring 2014 Calvin Klein Collection white silk long slip dress designed by Mr. Costa, the brands’ Women’s Creative
Director, and carried a Calvin Klein Collection metal box clutch. Each of the men wore looks designed by Mr. Zucchelli, the
brands’ Men’s Creative Director.
The Inspiration Gala
featured a rare intimate performance by legendary, influential British rock
band New Order. The black-tie benefit also featured a gala dinner, a live
auction of luxury goods, and a full-scale runway show – including10 men’s and women’s Calvin
Klein Collection looks – which was held in the
Plaza’s historic Palm Court. amfAR also honored steadfast AIDS activist HRH
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, and HBO was recognized for the
company’s impactful contribution to AIDS research. Proceeds
from the event will benefit amfAR’s life-saving AIDS research programs.
