Alexander Skarsgård and
Model Suvi Koponen Featured in New Multi-Brand Film &
Print Campaign
NEW YORK, NY, FEBRUARY 5, 2013 – Calvin
Klein, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], today
premiered a short film entitled, Provocations, as the
cornerstone of the company’s Spring 2013 global multimedia advertising campaign
for the Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein
and Calvin Klein Jeans brands. Actor Alexander Skarsgård and model
Suvi Koponen star in this striking film – a first
ever for the fashion house – and print campaign, showcasing all three brands in
one intricate narrative.
Provocations features the men’s and women’s
Calvin Klein Collection, ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans brands
in three different vignettes – all evoking the iconic mood of the house. For
the single, unified campaign, Mr. Skarsgård
and Ms. Koponen are portrayed in a complex journey through sleek, architectural
settings to dark and mysterious milieus. Fire, air and water are recurring
elements used throughout the creative, speaking to the strong connectivity to
nature common to all of the brands’ design
aesthetics. Through its sensual and evocative visuals, Provocations captures the company’s legacy of modernity, aspiration and
rule-making innovation.
“Presenting all three brands in one cohesive campaign film allows
us to convey the overall vision of the Calvin Klein brand in a more
meaningful and impactful way to our consumers,” said Tom Murry,
President & CEO, Calvin Klein, Inc. “Our goal was to highlight our brand
synergies and showcase the complete modern lifestyle that the brand has to
offer.”
Provocations will appear in 37 global markets
through an extensive digital, print and outdoor campaign. The 10 minute film,
which debuted today on YouTube and YouKu is expected to garner over 440 million
impressions. To support the short film, the print campaign features still shots
taken from the video, which will be revealed beginning with March 2013
magazines. The visuals will appear in 16-page custom booklet inserts, as well
as multi-page gatefolds and spreads in over 60 publications – including key
global Vogue, ELLE, W, GQ, DETAILS, and Vanity Fair titles.
Complementing the film and print campaigns, the creative will be featured in
both static and LED motion executions around the world.
The campaign film was conceived, directed and shot on location in
California by consulting creative director Fabien Baron of Baron + Baron,
working with Calvin Klein’s in-house global marketing and advertising
agency.
Mr. Skarsgård is also currently the face of new men’s
fragrance ENCOUNTER Calvin Klein, which launched in September 2012. The
dark and mysterious campaign, also conceived by Mr. Baron, was shot in a
classic film noir style by renowned photographer Steven Klein.
Ms.
Koponen was previously featured in the Calvin Klein Collection Fall 2008
global advertising campaign and recently appeared in the brands’ women’s
Pre-Fall 2013 presentation and Spring 2013 runway show. She also appears
alongside male model Shaun Dewet in the new ck Calvin Klein Watch + Jewelry
global ad campaign.
